It is always a good idea to keep track of your word count while writing. You may notice that by default, Google Docs does not display the word count on the screen. I will show you how to check the word count in Google Docs on both desktop and mobile. I will also show you how to keep the word count displayed on the screen while you type.

To check the word count on a desktop computer, click “Tools” in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then click “Word Count” in the drop-down menu.

Now, as you work on your document, the word count will be conveniently displayed at the bottom-left corner of your screen. This real-time feedback ensures you stay on track with your writing goals.
